SACRED REBELLIONS

While the last chapter of the conquest of the Americas is unfolding upon the remaining wild areas of the Amazon, quietly, the Indigenous Peoples living in  the nine countries bordering the Amazon basin are obtaining unprecedented social and political gains of historic proportions. 

This feature length documentary film presents Indigenous Peoples winning significant political power, respect for the traditional knowledge and securing their lands in the so called Bolivar Triangle of Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador.

At the heart of this film, are three personal stories. Nina Pacari from Ecuador, the first Indian American to be elected minister; Don Luciano Mutumbajoy, the heir of an established shamanic lineage who spearheaded a school to train new traditional healers in Colombia. And Simeon Jimenez, leading the land demarcation project of the ancestral home of the Ye’kuanas, in one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Venezuelan Amazon.
